The teapot holds the heat extremely well and the tea leaf holder does a pretty good job of keeping most of the tea leaves out of the liquid. The cast iron teapot is very heavy and really makes a difference in preserving the flavor of the tea.
We do not recommend placing this pot over a heat source. The water should be heated using a separate kettle, and the teapot used for steeping and serving the tea.
